Case Study for the Unknown
Often, especially as a construction manager, you just don’t know what to ask from a drone operator. It’s best to brainstorm together and define a deliverable that may not be an off-the-shelf solution. For example, on this project, the manager needed a way to preserve the utility markings added by the various trades, knowing they would be destroyed by weather and heavy equipment. We determined that a tightly grouped, low-altitude 2D map limited to the effected roads and sidewalks was the solution. Drones are a versitile tool and can be the answer to many problems if you use your imagination.
The top photo represents each image location for the entire construction area to cover all of the utility markets. It is over 800 images stiched into an area map.
The bottom photo is a single image from the map showing specific utility markings preserved for eternity.
